Makey Makey is an easy way to connect your computer to the world around you. It’s easy to set up and understand, but has so many possible ways to be used.
All the stuff included in the Makey Makey set is packaged in a smallish box. The set includes a Makey Makey board, seven alligator cables, six white wires, and a USB cord. The wires and cables fit compactly and neatly, and everything seems to fit into its own spot.
The instructions are clear and easy to understand (even if you’re clueless with tech), but they don’t give you a set boundary to what you can or can’t create. Once you understand how the basics of the Makey Makey work, you can experiment with different objects and how well they connect with the Makey Makey board/wires. The board itself has clear areas to clip the alligator cables to, which represent the four directional arrows, a mouse click, and a space. The alligator cables hook up to the board, and you can connect them to other objects to imitate pressing the keys on a keyboard. It’s really fun to play around and see what will and won’t work to connect the circuits (people work, which leads to some fun ways to play pacman).
Makey Makey sets could be used a fun and interactive way to introduce children to circuits. We really enjoyed experimenting with different objects and how well they worked with the set, and the Makey Makey website, along with some other websites, have games that are specifically made to be played with the set.
The Makey Makey is really fun to play and experiment with, and learn about conductivity and basic circuits at the same time. It’s easy to understand and keeps you entertained with its endless possibilities.
